Tanya is a Registered Provisional Psychologist and Mediator with experience in counselling and assessments in a psychiatric clinical setting. As a registered provisional psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, Tanya is an ongoing member of the following organizations: the Canadian Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Association for Conflict Resolution, and is a board member with the Alberta Family Mediation Society.
Tanya was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Victoria and a Master’s of Science in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary.
Tanya has worked in clinical settings with clients from diverse backgrounds presenting with various concerns, including anxiety, body image concerns, self-esteem, depression, trauma, grief, marital discord, parenting and interpersonal concerns.
Tanya was competitive in figure skating, of which she was provincially ranked, and played competitive ice hockey internationally. Additionally, she has played other various recreational sports including, floor hockey, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and softball. Her personal experience in sports provide her with the ability to relate to the challenges that athletes may encounter as well as understand the difficulty of navigating these challenges. Tanya has a special interest in supporting athletes in their transitions in and out of sports, reintegration following a traumatic brain injury, performance-related anxiety, and body image concerns.
Tanya completed mediation training through the Legal Education Society of Alberta and offers mediation services for a variety of concerns. In addition to counselling and mediation, Tanya also provides other interventions under Practice Note 7.
Tanya is currently accepting new clients at the firm of Fong Ailon as she continues to complete her provisional hours under the supervision of Dr. Larry Fong.
