Lisa is a Registered Psychologist with experience in counseling and assessments. She is a registrant with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), a member of the Psychologists Association of Alberta (PAA), the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy (CACPT), and Association of Family and Conciliation Court (AFCC). She has worked with a variety of clients in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal difficulties and life transitions. As a psychologist, she seeks to meet each client's needs with empathy, compassion, and practical guidance. Lisa has experience counseling individuals, couples, families and children. She creates a safe, non-judgmental space that enhances personal exploration, discovery, and growth.
She has training in a variety of psychotherapeutic methods including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, clinical interviewing and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Her broad range of training enables her to be flexible and to tailor sessions towards the individual needs of her clients.
Lisa earned a Bachelor Degree in Psychology with Distinction from the University of Lethbridge and a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta. After internship, she was licensed as a registered psychologist in 2011.
In addition to counseling, Lisa has experience providing formal assessments in the areas of parenting/custody, capacity, and SAFE home assessments. She has also worked in a number of roles within the Alberta foster care system, and as well with Alberta Child and Family Services. She has been accepted as an expert witness in the Provincial Court of Alberta.
Lisa is currently accepting new clients at the firm of Fong Ailon and welcomes the ability to assist with a timely response to referrals. Lisa is also able to provide some evening hours to accommodate client needs.
